Mary Catherine Perry
Died June 18, 2017 at the Waterford Retirement Residence in Kingston, Ontario. Born in Morrisburg, Ontario, June 9, 1926. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Perry, her parents John and Daphne Casselman, sisters Ruth Caister and Aileen McDonnell, and brother Ralph Casselman. She is survived by her brother Neale Casselman and sister Daphne Burns.
Mary attended Nursing School at Ottawa Civic Hospital and graduated in 1949. She worked at the Civic after graduation, then took several post-grad courses in Boston and Cleveland before returning to Ottawa Civic. She graduated from University of Toronto Public Health Nursing Program in 1960, following which she worked in the Northumberland Durham Health Unit in Brighton until 1969 when she attended University of Dalhousie for further Public Health Administration courses. Mary and Bob met while she was at Dalhousie and were married after she moved to Kingston. After working in Napanee she came to Kingston Public Health Department where she worked for the remainder of her Public Health career, retiring in 1989. She continued to be active in her community at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the Women’s Auxiliary at K.G.H., as well as keeping current with her former classmates from Ottawa Civic Hospital.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life service held for Mary at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Kingston on August 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception, in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, or the Women’s Auxiliary of K.G.H.
