Obituary of Laura Newman

NEWMAN, Laura Agnes (nee Milligan)
1928-2017
Our beloved Laura has unexpectedly passed away at home in Kingston. Laura was an elementary school teacher in the greater Kingston area for 35 years, retiring in 1986. She was a person loved by many, who enjoyed spending time with her family and dear friends in Kingston and at the cottage, as well as with her neighbours whom she leaned on for their unfailing support over the last three years. She delighted in gardening, playing bridge, and looking after a variety of birds and animals who visited her yard. Laura was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Fred Newman. She was the much loved mother of Debbie Rudan (John) and adoring grandmother of Lexie Allen (Bryan) of California and Scott Rudan of Ottawa. Laura was the doting great-grandmother of Layla and Brenner Allen, whose addition to the family enriched her life more than they'll ever know. Family and friends will be received at a Memorial Reception on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm in the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, RECEPTION AND CELEBRATION CENTRE, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston. (Please enter from the back parking lot doors). A private family graveside service will be held at the Cataraqui Cemetery.
