Our beloved Jim passed away at the Kingston General Hospital on Friday, June 30, 2017, at the age of 86.  Jim will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ethel (nee Holt).  Loving father of David and his wife Barbara, the late Mark, Bart, Mary Shand, Cheryl and her husband Nick Papailiadis and Lynda and her husband the late Ken Elliott.  He will be lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Jim is survived by his brother Norm Hamel (Eleanor), sister-in-law Jean Hamel, brothers-in-law Ed Baker and Bob Holt (Aster), and sister-in-law Margaret Bowers, as well as his nieces, nephews and good friends.  He was predeceased by his sisters Dot, Vi, Glady, Helen, and Peggy, brother Wil, sisters-in-law Bella, Marie, and Ann and brothers-in-law Harry and Tommy.  A special thank you is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff at KGH in the Emergency Department, Connell 10 and Kidd 4 ICU, for the wonderful and compassionate care that Jim and his entire family received.  Family and friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 1-3 and 7-9 pm.  Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm.  Cremation will be entrusted to the James Reid Funeral Home Crematorium.  For those who wish donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Ontario Lung Association.
