Obituary of Jeane Oliva Howard
Jeanne Oliva Howard
August 24, 1922- June 13, 2017
Peacefully in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Mom passed away. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas A. Howard (2011) and loving son, Ronald L. Howard (2013). She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her cherished daughter Nina J. Howard and her partner Brian Williams of Millgrove, ON and also by Ronald’s son, Jeffrey of Calgary. Mom was the youngest of the trio I liked to call “the three amigos” from the Kingsdale who consisted of herself, Betty Horner, and Maxine Saunders. God bless the memories. Also missing Mom, Gail Wolfe and Teresa Horner, who took the time to keep in touch with Mom when she moved into LTC. Mom will be remembered for her strength and determination and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mom and I want to express our gratitude to those whom in the past few years have contributed greatly to her care. Bryan, (owner) Bryden Transportation, who went above and beyond numerous times for Mom and me. To the doctors, nurses and PSWs on Smugglers Cove at Arbour Heights LTC who really made all the difference in Mom’s care. A special thank-you to Charles (night RPN) as well as Sherry and Michelle of Arbour Heights for being so wonderful at your jobs. Also a special mention to the daughter/mother team, (Nicky/Sally) who work Wednesdays in the salon at Arbour Heights for their wonderful talent and caring ways, and always making Mom look and feel beautiful. To Liz and Sharon, who on many occasions were a source of comfort for me and each other, as we attended to our Mothers.
Also wanting to thank the following businesses for Mom’s care: to Medigas (oxygen) for being there for my Mom whenever she needed you and always with a smile, Medical Arts Pharmacy and Medisystems Pharmacy, thank-you, for looking after all of Mom’s medications, Motions LP (wheelchairs), to their wonderful staff who visit Arbour Heights and make sure everybody’s wheelchairs are working well. Also a special thanks to Ramekins Restaurant (Joe, Nicole and staff) for the special attention given to Mom’s wonderful meals.
On a personal note, a special thank-you to my friends in my community, Sharon, Chrystal and Patty, who knew how difficult it was to be so far away from Mom. Your kind words and positive support meant so much to me. Also thanks to First Canada Inns (Cassandra and Joanne) for giving me special attention and accommodating me whenever I needed to come to Kingston to see Mom. Also a special mention to Paula, Joe and Kyle from JB Auto Service (Greensville, ON) for always keeping my car in excellent condition to ensure that it was ready for travel at a moment’s notice to be with Mom. Cremation will be followed by a graveside service at the Cataraqui Cemetery on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., where she will be reunited for eternity with the love of her life, Thomas. For those attending, please gather at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston) at 10:45 a.m. to travel in procession to the cemetery. Mom suffered from Parkinson’s disease: in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Parkinson Canada – Kingston Chapter, in her memory.
God Bless you all
