Obituary of James Allan Machenry Carscallen

CARSCALLEN, James Allan Machenry "Mac"
Alcan Kingston Works 1941-1982
Peacefully at home in Portsmouth, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Tamworth in 1922, Mac was the son of Allan and Bernice Carscallen. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion Campbell, and cherished by his wife Helen Belding. Loving father of Allan (late) and his wife Brenda, Susan and her husband Roland Billings. Devoted grandfather to James and his wife Andrea, Jeff and Joe, and adored by his great grandson A. J. Mac was loved by Helen's children and extended family.  He is survived by his sister Jean Reid (late Art), his brother George and his wife Carole, and their families.  We are grateful for the care provided to Mac by his personal support workers over the years. He loved you all and considered you part of his family. Our thanks to the St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital Gibson 3 nurses and support staff who along with the physiotherapy team, gave Mac back to us twice over the last five years so he could continue his journey.  Mac's goal was to live out his life at home. Special thanks to his daughter in law Brenda, his niece Janice, and his grandsons for their role in keeping Mac safe and happy. He was blessed to have so many good neighbours and caring people like Chris O'Hearn who looked out for him, along with passers by who stopped in or just waved to Mac through his window on the world.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22 from ST. JOHN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH (41 Church Street in Portsmouth), at 12 noon, with interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and at Mac's request, memorial donations would be appreciated to UHKF - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Providence Care, recognizing the wonderful care that Mac has received in the past five years. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home, on line, or at St. John's Church on the day of the service.
