As others have said, a very fitting description of Al Walker, a sailor, a serviceman, a teacher, a friend and so much more. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing, and I am pleased to have known him in many capacities during my career in the naval reserve but especially at CAT. His service was indeed remarkable, his contributions many, he worked diligently to offer youth opportunities be at school or at sea.
To those who stood by him these last few years, thank you.

To Peter Walker and Family,
The obituary is a most fitting tribute to Alan's life and his involvement with service to young people as a teacher and mentor, also volunteer in the Kingston community with many listed organizations, committees, CORK, the Salvation Army, the boards of the Marine Museum and the local branch of the Navy League plus his service in the Naval Reserve and the HMCS Cataraqui Association.
Alan exhibited a generous spirit that many will remember for the Celebration of Life being planned for the Spring.

Blessed is the man and family who steadfastly taught many of us in the neighborhood the important things in life...including soldiering on when faced with any challenge. Certainly those lucky enough to have sailed with Alan as Sea Scouts on ST Lawrence II the true meaning of respect for Mother Nature, teamwork, and being lucky enough to have a hot meal even if it was Pea Soup.
Know are hands are there to help hold the memories and quietly say thanks for being our friends.

Dear Peter and family,
Our family and especially Mic, are thinking of all of you at this difficult time. Mic enjoyed every hour of every shift he had with Al. He would often relate stories of things that went on and how they managed and enjoyed their time together. Mic learned so, so much working with Al. Patience of course but also how to treat a person with dignity and respect. He loved to hear stories from Al's past and was always trying to think of things to talk about that might spark interest for Al. He loved all the walking and exercise and enjoyed cooking for Al who never complained about his food and enjoyed what Mic prepared. Mic respected Al and admired his accomplishments. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sarah, Philippe and Mic
