Betty and I both worked at Bell Canada, she in Kingston and I was in Brockville, construction department. She reached out to me when I was only 24 and starting my career because she heard that a Connie McParland had been hired. She told me she was a first cousin of my Dad,....and as a young girl she spent a lot of time at our family farm, my Aunt Arlie, being the same age as Betty were cousins and great friends Over the years we would meet at the Bell Pensioners annual meeting here in Kingston. This spring when she told me her cancer was back, we began having weekly visits. She told me a lot about the memories she had at my grandparents. We had so many laughs and I was delighted to soak up her wisdom, her sense of humour over tea and Tim bits or other treats. She was truly a remarkable woman, so very kind and considerate. I will miss her. May the angels Dear Betty guide you on your way. RIP
