Herbert Alan Davison
(1922-2021)
Herbert Alan Davison passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 22, 2021 in Kingston, Ontario. He was 99 years old.
Alan was born on August 12, 1922 in his grandmother’s home in Hamilton, Ontario. After completing high school Alan attended the University of Toronto where he graduated with an electrical engineering degree in 1945. During this period, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces officers training corps and was discharged shortly after the conclusion of the war.
In 1947 Alan joined Bell Canada and worked there for 40 years until his retirement in 1987. During his career with Bell, Alan moved frequently with his family and worked in Hamilton, Toronto, Port Credit, Windsor, Barrie, Thunder Bay and finally in Kingston.
On April 26, 1947 Alan married Barbara Greenway in Hamilton and enjoyed 63 years of companionship until her passing on October 2, 2011 in Kingston. Alan and Barb enjoyed travelling and visited five continents during their time together. Alan was an avid curler and rarely missed watching major bonspiels. He was also a die-hard Hamilton Tiger Cats fan and read the G&M every morning for over 70 years. He enjoyed most of all spending endless days with his family at his cottage that he built on Indian Lake in 1974.
Alan was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Barbara (nee Greenway), his grandson Jesse (Beckwith) and his son-in-law Dan (Berry). He is survived by brother Doug and his sister Irene MacCrimmon, and his six children: Gwennyth (late Dan Berry), Betsy (Gaye Beckwith), Joyce, Beverley (James Domanski), Ted (Pamela), and Patricia (Colin Webster). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
